Welcome to My Honors Portfolio
Hello! My name is Farooq Alkhateeb and welcome to my e-portfolio. I’m currently a student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Information Technology and minoring in Business. Ever since I laid hands on my first real computer as a kid, I’ve been fascinated by computer networks and their ability to allow us to communicate instantaneously. Today, with the advent of high-speed networks and the Internet, we are witnessing an even greater ability to communicate via several different forms of multimedia. To put it lightly, I am extremely excited to see where we are headed as this technology advances.
Luckily, because my family is so separated, I’ve had an excuse to travel all over the world throughout my college career. In light of this, I have developed a love of travel. I’ve visited many countries including Ireland, France, Jordan, Canada, and more. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel across the United States and spent a whole summer traveling across the Northeast to places such as New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Washington D.C. Hopefully, I can continue to travel to places I’ve never been and experience new things. In fact, I even have a Top 5 list of countries that I want to visit including, Japan, Argentina, Spain, Lebanon, and China.

My hope is that one day all of the people from all over the world will be able to communicate with each other over these computer networks. Truly, I feel that we can overcome the barriers of language and culture to create a world of understanding and unity. I believe computer networks to be the means to that end. Unfortunately, there are still many places that do not have access to high-speed Internet including many rural areas of the United States. However, as wireless technologies advance and technology becomes cheaper, we will be able to provide this access to people in need.
